COCHLEA residency invites dance-artists internationally to work in Athens during the summer. COCHLEA res1 offers working space, to one mid-career dance-artist to work on a research-based project. COCHLEA res2 is designed for both mid-career and less experienced dance-artists, offering working space, as well as 5h of Alexander Technique & experiential anatomy private lessons, and 5h of mentoring & feedback. One partial bursary is available for COCHLEA res2, covering the 10h of AT & mentoring for one successful applicant.

COCHLEA residency is located in Exarcheia, one of the most artistic, alive, and diverse neighbourhoods of the centre of Athens, a residential area of extraordinary urbanity,  including three typical Athenian open-air cinemas, affordable quality restaurants for every appetite (incl. lots of vegan options), cafeterias and bars, 10min walk from Panepistimio tube station, and walking distance from Lycabettus and Acropolis.

Please send a 500word process or project summary, your cv, as well as links to documentation of your practice (incl. but limited to video, photos, audio, or blog), via emailstating the residency program and specific slot of your preference, and whether you are also applying for the bursary. Successful applicants shall be notified by 1 May.

COCHLEA residency welcomes all genres and methods within the field of the performing arts, with a particular interest to support research-based dance and/or post-dramatic theatre practices, that favour process over outcome.
